Headquartered in Bedford, MA, iWalk is a developer of orthotic and prosthetic (O&P) devices. iWalk’s technology is based on the advanced robotics research of world-renowned MIT Professor of Biomechatronics, Harvard Medical School Professor of Anatomy and bi-lateral amputee, Hugh Herr. Additionally, some of its technology is licensed from MIT. iWalk provides O&P products that aim to normalize human gait and function for patients with limb loss or disability. Their first product is a unique microprocessor-based, powered robotic ankle/foot prosthesis called the BiOM. iWalk’s technology essentially replicates and improves upon the function of a super-human foot.
