ViTrue, Inc. Announces Appointment of Robert Sanders
Former Chief Architect of Earthlink to Enhance and Expand User-Generated Content Infrastructure; ViTrue to Bolster Platform to Meet Increasing Demand for User-Created Advertising and Branded Online Communities
ViTrue, Inc., pioneer of the world’s first user-created advertising platform, today announced that Robert Sanders has joined the company as chief technology officer (CTO). With an impressive track record of building scalable Internet-based platforms used by millions of subscribers, Sanders will be responsible for building out ViTrue’s platform to scale and meet the unprecedented demand for organizations looking to strategically launch user-created advertising campaigns and branded online video communities.
Previously, Sanders was the Chief Architect of EarthLink after the company merged with MindSpring in 1999. He joined MindSpring at age 19 as the company’s second employee, becoming lead engineer and later the CTO. In addition to leading the architecture, implementation and management of the systems serving the rapidly growing customer base, he developed the company’s first 24x7 Network Operations Center. Just prior to the merger with EarthLink, Sanders developed MindSpring’s first ADSL and SDSL broadband services.
As Chief Architect of EarthLink, Sanders was the technical lead for initiatives such as the EarthLink Everywhere wireless data services, the ScamBlocker anti-phishing tool, and a highly scalable, multi-protocol real-time messaging and presence platform. Since 2004 his focus has been on the company’s Voice-over-IP products, implementing both a PC-to-PC free calling system and a carrier-grade VoIP platform used to provide PSTN telephony services under the product names “EarthLink trueVoice” and “DSL and Home Phone Service”.
“Robert is a technology superstar. His impressive background and established reputation for driving the development of consumer-facing Internet technologies and applications are exactly what ViTrue needs,” said Reggie Bradford, CEO of ViTrue. “As user-created video becomes a standard component of any online community and Internet advertising campaign, Robert’s ability to develop highly-scalable and flexible technology infrastructures that experience zero downtime will help us continue to exceed our customers’ and partners’ demands.”
Sanders left EarthLink for a year after the MindSpring/EarthLink merger to serve as CTO of Cbeyond Communications, an Atlanta-based CLEC serving the small business market. At Cbeyond he assembled the engineering and operations team and deployed the world’s first 100% IP-based local phone network.
While studying Computer Science at Georgia Tech from 1991-1994, Sanders contributed to the nascent Linux open source operating system, most notably developing the DOS Emulator, the first virtual machine to allow Linux users to simultaneously run MS-DOS and Windows programs.
