What Women Really Want For Valentine's Day

SmartBargains.com Survey Reveals Women Will Give Back Rubs for Bling

Boston, MA – January 29, 2007

SmartBargains.com®, the leading online retailer for unbelievable finds for women at outrageously low prices, conducted a Valentine's Day survey of over 300 women to find out what they really want on the most romantic day of the year - and it's not what you think. Forget flowers - a whopping 62% said jewelry makes their heart flutter - and there wasn't even a close second.

It's lucky for all the lovers out there that SmartBargains.com has their back. The survey reveals that women influence their mate's romantic spending by nudging them to buy their Valentine's Day gift from SmartBargains.com. Women entice their mates with the "easy factor" - meaning they don't have to leave the comfort of their easy chair to brave the crowds at the mall when the perfect heart bling is right at their fingertips in every shape, color and size - carats, that is.

It's Not All About The Bling
But it does help. Not surprising, diamonds were the most preferred type of jewelry, with 38.8% of women preferring the precious ice over sapphires, rubies or emeralds. Survey results also revealed that 31.7% of women would be willing to give "on-demand" back rubs for six months if they received a pair of diamond earrings from their sweetheart, but only 7.2% of the ladies were willing to take out the trash in return. The majority of women at 46.8% said they would do nothing in return - they "deserve only the best" for Valentine's Day!

A Little Romance at Home Goes a Long Way
Although most men think they have to make reservations at the most expensive restaurant in town on Valentine's Day in addition to giving their special someone a special gift, that couldn't be further from the truth. The SmartBargains.com survey revealed that more than half - 52.6% to be exact - prefer a "romantic dinner at home with candles and a cheap bottle of wine". And there's more good news for the men out there - only 14% of the women surveyed would prefer to spend the night out with friends rather than be home with you.

Surprise Her and She May Just Surprise You Back
61% of all women surveyed want their man to surprise her with a gift that he picks out rather than pick out their own "because it shows some thought went into it". Guys can forget the notion that "it's the thought that counts" - only 14% surveyed would skip gifts altogether. And if the men out there are wondering what they'll be getting this Valentine's Day, here's the scoop - 33.5% of you are likely to receive cuff links, a wallet, money clip or other accessory from their sweetheart, while 26.2% will get a watch or other piece of jewelry - proving that women, in turn, like to give a little bling too.

SmartBargains.com offers tremendous values and a beautiful Valentine's Day assortment featuring diamond jewelry ranging from diamond stud earrings starting at $149.99 to heart pendants starting at $89.99 and other fine jewelry. For more information, visit www.smartbargains.com.
