Eons– Forethought Partnership Enables Boomers To Make End-Of-Life Plans On Their Own Terms

Groundbreaking Alliance with Pre-Need Company Forethought Brings Industry-Leading Tools and Products to Fastest-Growing 50-Plus Online Community Site

Charlestown Navy Yard, Boston – March 8, 2007

Eons™, the 50-plus media company for loving life on the flipside of 50™, and Forethought® Financial Group, Inc., through its insurance subsidiaries, today announced a partnership to offer Eons members an online channel to industry-leading funeral planning tools, products and services that help offset end-of-life expenses.

“Boomers take charge of the world around them, and that includes planning for funerals where family and friends can celebrate their life,” says Jeff Taylor, Eons founder and CEO. “This is a generation that is in the driver’s seat, and Forethought offers tools that boomers can use to go out in the style that has always defined them, without leaving the cost and complicated planning for their children and grandchildren to deal with.”

The partnership brings Eons members direct access to Forethought’s suite of online tools for selecting the right end-of-life planning products, including:

  • The convenient and interactive Forethought guided planner that helps online users record information about life, career and family.
  • Education and information on Forethought’s innovative insurance products designed to cover funeral expenses, credit card balances, car loans, mortgage loans, legal and other expenses.
  • A funeral home finder to help clients select a trusted member of The Forethought Funeral Planning Network(SM) of more than 5,000 funeral homes.

“Eons, with more than 300,000 registered members, is an important online resource to educate consumers on the value of planning ahead,” said John Graf, Forethought President and CEO. “Baby boomers want online end-of-life planning information, but they don’t always know where to get it. Eons is reaching a generation that wants to go out on their own terms, and Forethought’s tools will help them do that.”

The Forethought partnership expands Eons Obits, which includes the nation’s largest free obituary database of more than 77 million death records. In addition, partnerships with Selected Independent Funeral Homes and The International Order of the Golden Rule give more than 2,500 member funeral homes the capability of offering families access to Eons Obits tools to create deeper, richer tributes.

“The Eons generation remembers when Jim Morrison said, ‘No one here gets out alive,’ ” said Taylor. “We’re in the habit of changing the world, and that includes the way we think about the end of life. We’re not going to leave that job to anyone else, and with the help of Forethought’s products and resources, we’re going to put our own stamp on it.”
