Maven Collaborates with Microsoft for Next-Generation Internet TV Experiences Using Microsoft Silverlight

New Solution Enables Media Companies to Create Rich and Engaging Broadband Video Experiences for Mac and Windows

Cambridge, MA – June 13, 2007

Maven Networks today announced collaboration with Microsoft to enable the delivery of next generation, cross-platform broadband video experiences using Microsoft Silverlight technology. Through this collaboration, Maven’s customer base of professional media companies will be able to use the familiar workflow automation, publishing and player creation capabilities of the Maven Internet TV Platform™ to easily launch Silverlight-enabled Internet TV channels that drive greater consumer appeal with rich interactive capabilities and high quality video experiences.

Microsoft Silverlight is a new cross-browser, cross-platform technology for delivering the next generation of media experiences and rich interactive applications for the Web. Silverlight integrates with existing Web technologies and assets to provide higher-quality experiences with lower costs for media delivery. Delivered to end users through a seamless, fast installation, Silverlight offers consistent experiences to both Macintosh and Windows users on a variety of browsers including Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari.

Leading media companies around the world use the Maven Internet TV Platform to quickly and easily create, manage, syndicate and monetize Internet TV channels. Through Maven’s support of the Microsoft Silverlight technology, professional media companies gain an additional rich media technology to develop and deploy highly engaging multi-platform, multi-browser video experiences. Silverlight enables rich graphics capabilities such as high resolution transparent overlays on video, state-of-the-art video rendering, and significant streaming efficiencies that can allow multiple videos to run simultaneously within a single player.

“Maven is a leader in empowering media companies to easily deliver cutting-edge Internet TV channels on their own sites and beyond through syndication,” said Sean Alexander, director of Silverlight Media for Microsoft Corp. “Our collaboration with Maven will help provide compelling and innovative Silverlight-based solutions for content creators looking to differentiate and maximize their online media offerings. Silverlight ushers in a new level of online experiences with improved video streaming capabilities that can scale up to HD and incorporate rich interactivity, all with a lower total cost to operate.”

“Microsoft Silverlight provides an impressive technology foundation that Maven can build on to help leading media companies bring even more compelling video experiences to their users and advertisers,” said Todd Boes, Vice President of Product Management at Maven Networks. “Our goal is to make the benefits of Silverlight as easily accessible as possible to content creators and producers of Internet TV services.”
