Popular Science Magazine Honors McAfee SiteAdvisor With 'Best of What's New' Award

Santa Clara, CA – November 9, 2006

McAfee, Inc. (NYSE: MFE), the leading dedicated security technology company, today announced that McAfee(R) SiteAdvisor(TM), the world's first safe search and browse technology, has been selected by Popular Science Magazine for inclusion in its 19th annual "Best of What's New" list.

"Best of What's New is the ultimate Popular Science accolade, representing a year's worth of work evaluating thousands of products," says Mark Jannot, editor of Popular Science. "These awards honor innovations that not only influence the way we live today, but that change the way we think about the future."

McAfee SiteAdvisor, selected for the computing category, has pioneered Web safety by testing and rating, on an ongoing basis, nearly every trafficked site on the Internet for a wide variety of Web safety issues including spyware, viruses, exploits, online scams, and spam. The program provides advance warning of dangerous and risky Web sites so consumers can avoid visiting the "dark alleys" of the Internet.

"McAfee SiteAdvisor is a category-defining safe search tool, and to have the editors of Popular Science recognize this breakthrough is very gratifying," said Bill Kerrigan, Executive Vice President, McAfee Consumer. "McAfee SiteAdvisor helps guide hundreds of millions of clicks every day, and we're privileged to join the distinguished company of products that have been previously honored by Popular Science."

The award comes two days after the launch of McAfee SiteAdvisor Plus, the premium version of the free McAfee SiteAdvisor tool. McAfee SiteAdvisor and SiteAdvisor Plus are available for download at http://us.mcafee.com. McAfee SiteAdvisor technology is included in each of McAfee's 2007 consumer security software line-up which consists of McAfee Total Protection, McAfee Internet Security Suite, McAfee PC Protection Plus, McAfee VirusScan Plus and McAfee Wireless Protection.
