Warren Perry Of QUMAS A Featured Speaker At Tech Trends For Banks Forum

Compliance expert to discuss how sound policies and procedures form the foundation for successful compliance programs

Jersey City, NY – November 20, 2007

QUMAS, the leading provider of governance, risk and compliance (GRC) solutions, today announced that Warren Perry, a senior compliance advisor at QUMAS, will speak on "Policies and Procedures: How Sound Policies and Procedures are the Basis of Any Compliance Program" at SourceMedia's Tech Trends for Banks Forum on Monday, December 3 at 4:15-5 p.m. at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix.

The Forum is designed to provide bank CIOs, CTOs and executives concerned with operations, compliance and risk management with first-hand information on implementing the latest technologies that will help them gain more business and develop a more customer-centric approach to technology adoption.

Perry will review the differences between policies and procedures, how they are related, and how financial services organizations can take steps to implement a strong rules, policies and procedures infrastructure to achieve an optimal and sustainable compliance program. During his presentation, Perry will specifically address how:

  • Viewing policies and procedures as the same thing when it comes to a compliance program can seriously affect a company's standing with regulatory bodies, customers and shareholders
  • The compliance team in a complex firm must rise to the challenge of creating, controlling and distributing the right policies and procedures to the right audiences based on the right interpretation of laws, regulations and guidance
  • Regulators are primarily concerned with three overall principles - safety and soundness of the financial system, eradication of financial crime and customer protection - and how companies can address these

Perry will also present a case study to illustrate how a company can best address policies and procedures to protect company assets, provide a proactive regulatory defense and achieve optimal business benefits.

As a senior compliance advisor, Perry is responsible for product development and marketing strategies at QUMAS. He has extensive experience in the area of content management systems and item and transaction processing in the financial services sector, having done work in brokerage and credit card servicing and retail banking.
