Passengers should be able to get through the lines more quickly at Stewart International Airport thanks to some new gear to be installed soon.
High-tech baggage screening equipment has been approved for Stewart, according to U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-New York, and will be put in place this fall.
Three CT-80 screening machines made by Reveal will be put to use at Stewart, said Alex Detrick, a spokesman for Schumer.
The new systems can check 120 bags per hour. They will free up Transportation SecurityAdministration staffers to handle the check-through of passengers, thus speeding up the overall operation to keep pace with Stewart’s substantial growth, Schumer's announcement explained.
