Farmland Foods Selects SignalDemand Price and Response Software

Smithfield Subsidiary to Implement Supply, Demand, and Cost Optimization Solution

San Francisco, CA – November 27, 2007

SignalDemand today announced that Farmland Foods, a subsidiary of Smithfield Foods (NYSE: SFD), has selected the company’s Price and Response software to better manage the interaction between supply, demand, and costs.

Built using the latest optimization and econometric models, SignalDemand Price and Response enables process manufacturers to deliver accurate pricing to balance supply, demand, and costs. The application also offers increased visibility into the impact of each pricing decision.

As a secure SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) hosted solution, Price and Response delivers patent-pending optimization science on-demand via a web browser. The application can be tuned for both assembly and disassembly manufacturing environments (i.e. bill of materials vs. reverse bill of materials).

"We are excited to be chosen by such a well-respected company as Farmland Foods," said Mike Neal, CEO of SignalDemand. "The rapid adoption we've experienced with process manufacturers speaks to the value companies are realizing by implementing science-based technology to balance supply, demand, and costs."
