Impress Software Adds Web Capability to Latest Release of Packaged SAP and ESRI

New Release Also Introduces Solution for Small Utilities, Municipalities and Government Agencies

Waltham, MA – January 22, 2008

Impress Software, a leading provider of packaged integration applications, today announced the availability of Impress for GIS 2.2, adding several new features to help Utility and other asset-intensive organizations improve productivity, decision-making and service quality while reducing operating costs.

Impress for GIS 2.2 enables access to its server-based asset and work management processes from web-based map deployments. This new capability, in addition to the already existing client plug-in for the ArcGIS desktop, provides organizations with broader access to key processes from the map.

The new release also provides companies with a small number of assets under management with the ability to map-enable SAP PM processes without first implementing a synchronized asset register.

“We continually maintain and enhance Impress for GIS, allowing our customers to achieve greater returns from SAP and GIS while minimizing the total costs of integration,” said Warren Utt, CEO of Impress Software. “Impress for GIS 2.2 adds new capabilities, such as access to SAP processes from web-based maps, to further benefit organizations as they seek operational efficiencies and service differentiation.”

Additional features included with Impress for GIS 2.2:
  • Out-of-the-box Web Capabilities: Extends ESRI web-based maps with SAP-based business processes, including: create work order, create notification, view work order details, view notifications, view asset details, and view CCS details.
  • Represent Work Orders and Notifications as Map Features and Polygons: SAP-based work orders and notifications can be placed directly on the map as individual features and polygons, enabling work activity to be represented at specific locations on the map. By quickly pinpointing work locations, even along linear assets, maintenance organizations can reduce windshield time, and more effectively assess maintenance activity.
  • Enhanced Spatial Analysis: Expanded access to customer and consumption information from SAP’s industry business solution for Utilities (IS-U/CCS), and pinpoint placement of work activity enables more effective spatial analysis. For example, leak detection and analysis of linear assets is facilitated, as is the modeling of a water supply.
  • Support for ESRI ArcGIS 9.2 and Miner & Miner ArcFM 9.2: As a packaged integration application, Impress for GIS, is continually updated to support the latest partner releases. By ensuring compatibility with new partner releases, Impress for GIS allows companies to maximize their IT investment while controlling maintenance and support costs.

Impress for GIS 2.2 is available immediately through Impress Software at www.impress.com.

About Impress for GIS
Impress for GIS is a packaged integration application optimized for bridging SAP with ESRI’s ArcGIS and Miner & Miner’s ArcFM. The SAP-certified solution automatically links SAP assets with GIS features and monitors and maintains asset consistency, reducing data administration costs while ensuring data accuracy. Impress for GIS users can create SAP-based work orders and notifications from the map, update status information, and assign orders to features on the map. In addition, users can analyze SAP notification, work order and device consumption information with a “point-and-click” search. This information can be rendered on the map and color coded for spatial analysis and at-a-glance viewing to improve decision-making. Leveraging Impress for GIS, organizations can generate significant operational improvements by combining the strengths of GIS with SAP PM.
