Eons Launches First Longevity Calculator For Boomers and Seniors: Challenges Adults 50+ to Live to be 100

Eons Partners with Dr. Thomas Perls to Unveil Secrets of Living to be 100 and Provide Personalized Suggestions for Longevity

Charlestown Navy Yard, BOSTON, MA – July 27, 2006

Eons™, Inc., a 50+ media company dedicated to inspiring a generation of boomers and seniors to live the biggest life possible, today unveiled its proprietary 50+ Longevity Calculator. Eons, which launches on July 31, 2006, is the latest venture of Monster.com Founder Jeff Taylor.

Eons also announced the appointment of Thomas Perls, MD, MPH, who created the calculator, as an advisor to the company. A renowned expert in longevity, Dr. Perls founded the New England Centenarian Study, the largest research study of centenarians in the world.

Dr. Perls created his first Web-based Life Expectancy Calculator in 1999 and recently collaborated with Eons to create proprietary offerings that specifically target adults 50+ and help them to add, in the words of Abraham Lincoln, “not just years to life but life to their years.” The Calculator is available at www.eons.com.

“Boomers and seniors are proving that they want the most out of life,” says Jeff Taylor, founder and CEO of Eons, who declares he wants to live to be 100. “But living well — not just living long — is crucial. Eons is putting the power of a full, healthy life into individuals’ hands. Our Longevity Calculator and tools to come in the near future will help individuals make the most of the 25 or more healthy years they have beyond age 60 — opening up a gold mine of new possibilities for the potential for a full life.”

The 50+ Longevity Calculator walks users through 40 questions regarding personal history; lifestyle habits; nutrition and exercise; medical check-ups; and family history. Upon completion, each user receives their calculated longevity, plus personalized recommendations from Eons and Dr. Perls for adding years to their life. This information can be easily printed or saved to be forwarded to friends and family to inspire them to take the challenge.

The Longevity Calculator includes a range of questions to help determine the impact of important contributors on longevity including:

* The types and amount of stress in your life * Attitude * Longevity in your family * Amount of physical and cognitive exercise and activity * Type of diet

“Centenarians represent a new paradigm of aging; the older you get, the healthier you've been,” said Dr. Perls.“Genetics certainly play an important role in getting to 100, but my research has shown that the vast majority of people should be able to live to their late eighties in exceptional health. Years can be added well beyond that by taking simple healthy steps. The power lies in having this information; that's why the Calculator is a great companion.”

The Longevity Calculator is the second challenge Eons has posed to the nation before its official launch date. In April, Eons kicked off the “How Old Are You?” challenge, which encouraged adults 50+ to enter their top life goals for a chance to win $15,000 toward making one of them come true. Eons will unveil the winner at its launch on July 31.

About Thomas Perls, MD, MPH For the past 12 years, Dr. Perls has directed the New England Centenarian Study (NECS). Funded by The Institute for the Study of Health, The Ellison Medical Foundation, The Alzheimer's Association, and The National Institute on Aging, the NECS is the largest genetic and social study of centenarians and their families in the world. Dr. Perls is author of “Living to 100, Lessons in Maximizing Your Potential at Any Age,” and is Associate Professor of Medicine, Geriatrics Section, Department of Medicine, at a leading Boston teaching hospital.
