Scope of Single Sign-On Summit Includes Enterprise SSO, Web SSO, Active Directory SSO, and SAML and WS-Federation-based Internet SSO
Ping Identity today announced details for a new two-day industry event that focuses solely on Single Sign-On (SSO), a capability that is providing a simpler user experience, improved security and better corporate accountability for thousands of organizations worldwide. The Single Sign-On Summit™ will take place July 23-25, 2008 in Keystone, Colorado and will be cosponsored by Covisint, Passlogix, Ping Identity and Sun Microsystems.
The goal of the event is to give IT and line-of-business personnel the knowledge they need to rapidly and successfully deploy single sign-on. The conference content will emphasize real-world case studies, war stories and implementation best practices. Sessions will include a mix of presentations and collaborative discussions among SSO practitioners.
Session topics will include:
- Differentiating between enterprise SSO, Web SSO, Active Directory SSO and Internet SSO
- Improving auditability through SSO
- Securing access to SaaS through Internet SSO
- Providing SSO into and out of SharePoint
- Calculating SSO TCO
- Understanding CardSpace and OpenID
- Deploying strong authentication for a more secure enterprise
- Overcoming SSO challenges
For the past three years, Ping Identity has sponsored a Federated Identity User Group. The SSO Summit is a natural successor to that event, although the scope has been expanded to include not only secure Internet single sign-on as delivered by federated identity, but all forms of SSO. Covisint, Passlogix and Sun Microsystems have signed on to the SSO Summit as sponsors. Imprivata and Quest Software will be joining these companies and Ping Identity in the SSO Summit Solution Center.
The conference Web site is now online at http://www.ssosummit.com. Individuals who would like to share their implementation successes or war stories at the event can complete a speaker submission form at http://www.ssosummit.com/ssosummit/Speaker-Application.cfm. The deadline for speaker submissions is March 31, 2008.
“After holding three successful federated identity user groups, we realized the industry is missing a forum where people can learn beginner-to-advanced SSO at a nuts-and-bolts level,” said Andre Durand, CEO, Ping Identity. “For anyone involved in an SSO project, the SSO Summit is the only conference detailed enough to show you how all the different SSO capabilities complement each other.”
Industry Reaction
"Covisint is pleased to be participating in such an innovative event founded by Ping Identity," said Todd Foland, Director of Security Sales, Covisint. "The Single Sign-On Summit is the perfect platform for Covisint to showcase the value of delivering and extending federation communities in a simple, fast and repeatable fashion."
"This SSO Summit is an ideal opportunity for organizations to learn about the various single sign-on technologies and begin the process of determining which one best suits their needs," said Passlogix CEO, Marc Boroditsky. "It's an efficient way to cut through the clutter, sort out the differences between Enterprise Single Sign-On, Web Single Sign-On and Federated Single Sign-On, and begin the process of bringing your password overload under control."
"The Single Sign-On Summit is a great venue for industry members and customers to come together and share our experiences and expertise," said Mark Herring, Vice President of Marketing, Software Infrastructure, Sun Microsystems. "With a history of leadership, innovation and collaboration in identity management, open source and open standards, Sun is committed to developing a wide range of solutions to lower the barrier to entry for Web single sign-on and federation."
