Authentium and IMlogic Team Up To Fight Fast-Growing IM Threats

Authentium, the leading security services platform developer, joins IMlogic Threat Center consortium; will distribute IMlogic Threat Center alerts to customer base

November 15, 2005

Integration with Authentium ESP marks the threat detection and protection consortium’s one-year anniversary

Waltham, MA, November 15, 2005 - Leading end point security service platform operator Authentium has become the latest IMlogic Threat Center partner, exchanging up-to-the-minute IM-borne threat information with the center to protect millions of customers around the world from emerging and existing cyber attacks. As a member of the IMlogic Threat Center, Authentium will collaborate with threat analysts at IMlogic to identify and respond to attacks that impact the IM channel, and will work with other IMlogic Threat Center members to anticipate the next generation of viruses and worms.

Authentium is the leading provider of extensible, multi-vendor, on-demand security solutions to software developers, consumer network operators, enterprise administrators, and security appliance manufacturers. This partnership comes as the IMlogic Threat Center is about to mark its one-year anniversary of immediately notifying companies of emerging attacks and providing them with the tools to protect their infrastructures.

“IM-borne threats can infect machines globally within minutes or even seconds after launch, as opposed to ‘traditional’ e-mail-borne viruses which can take hours to spread globally,” said Robert Sandilands, Head of Authentium’s Virus Lab. “This raises the bar significantly for security companies. Partnerships like this in the security community are essential to maintaining the security shield for our customers’ infrastructure.”

The IMlogic Threat Center stays abreast of new and existing threats via a robust community of customers and strategic partnerships with Internet security leaders Symantec, Sybari, McAfee, Postini and now Authentium, as well as global instant messaging leaders America Online, Microsoft and Yahoo!. The IMlogic Threat Center is the comprehensive knowledge base for known IM and P2P vulnerabilities and provides rapid response and guidance for protection against newly detected threats.

“The value of the IMlogic Threat Center is based on our robust network of technology, customers and partners,” said IMlogic Chief Technology Officer Jon Sakoda. “Collaborating with threat experts such as Authentium ensures the IMlogic Threat Center has the latest, most in-depth information about emerging threats, and the tools to block them before they wreak havoc.”
