Norse Securities Deploys IMlogic IM Manager to Safeguard, Record IM Communications Between Brokers and Clients

Scandinavian stock trading firm to collaborate in real time while preventing cyber attacks and logging crucial conversations about trades

Waltham, MA – January 9, 2006

Norwegian private asset management and trading firm Norse Securities has chosen IMlogic IM ManagerTM to secure and record vital IM communications between brokers and clients. The Oslo-based broker for the financial, energy and telecoms sectors will use IMlogic IM Manager to keep a record of its real-time communications and protect the infrastructure from the fast-growing number of cyber threats.

“Instant messaging is an integral part of our communications capabilities,” said Norse Securities IT Manager Joachim Sandvik. “Our team of traders uses IM to support phone and e-mail conversations with customers and confirm the pricing and availability of shares, while the IT team uses IM primarily to communicate with suppliers. IMlogic IM Manager enables us to manage and record IM conversations, protect our users from IM viruses and worms entering our network, and prevent file transfers from leaving the system.”

During the last year, the Norse Securities management team realized the collaborative business benefits associated with presence awareness and real-time IM communication. At the same time, the increasing volume of threats from viruses, worms and malware led to concerns over the use of unmonitored IM. Rather than block IM use, the company evaluated several IM archiving and security solutions and chose IMlogic IM Manager for its ease of implementation and use, and its compatibility with the company’s Microsoft Windows 2003 system.

“Norse Securities joins an increasing number of organizations investing in IM management rather than attempting to block instant messaging altogether,” said IMlogic EMEA Managing Director Derek O’Carroll. “Trading companies have been among the most active sectors deploying IMlogic IM Manager to capitalize on the extensive collaborative advantages of IM while providing a record of its key conversations and stopping cyber threats before they attack.”
