US Army Enlists Impress to Integrate SAP and Microsoft Project November 29, 2005

Impress Integrates SAP and MS Project to Help ARDEC Deliver the Armaments that Soldiers Need, Exactly when they Need them.

November 29, 2005

WALTHAM, Mass., Impress Software, a leading provider of packaged integration applications for SAP Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and Enterprise Project Management (EPM) customers, today announced that it has been selected by the US Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC) to integrate SAP and Microsoft Project.

With more than 3,000 civilian engineers, scientists and support personnel, ARDEC's mission is to conduct and manage research, development and engineering for all assigned US Army weapon systems. Currently, its primary mission is research, development and pilot-plant production of weapons system, explosives and propellants. To accomplish this mandate, ARDEC maintains data at its laboratories and special facilities using SAP and Microsoft Project. However, to achieve its goals of increased accuracy and rapid reporting that will help deliver armaments to soldiers exactly when they need them, the two applications must be tightly linked.

"Program Managers and Contractors require data to be consistent between ARDEC's SAP back-office system and Microsoft Project," said Glen Berg, Competency Director for the Project Integration Office at the Armament Systems Integration Center. "We selected Impress' packaged integration application to ensure that the data between these two systems are synchronized in an accurate, timely and trusted manner."

"We're proud to solve the integration challenges of customers like ARDEC," said Warren Utt, CEO of Impress Software. "In this case, it's great to know that our technology will address critical ease of use issues and provide Project Managers and Project Accountants with the data and tools they need to support the ultimate customer: the soldier."

In addition to achieving tight integration between SAP and Microsoft Project, ARDEC will realize added benefits from using packaged integration applications from Impress Software, such as:

Increased visibility when project delays and conflicts arise

Real-time visibility of obligation plans and supporting schedules

Improved financial reporting

Standard templates to re-enforce PMI best practices and proper project management principles

Improved project management, which can lead to increased R&D funding
