Kayak.com Shares the Fare "Buzz" with Consumers

Kayak.com Is First Travel Site to Expose Real-Time Deals Found by Other Travelers

November 3, 2005

NORWALK, CT - November 3, 2005 - Kayak.com, the most comprehensive travel search site, introduces Kayak Buzz a tool that displays the lowest fares to the 25 most popular destinations from any airport or city. The fares displayed are the lowest found by Kayak.com users over the previous three days.

"Kayak Buzz is perfect functionality for travelers looking for destination ideas," said Steve Hafner, CEO and co-founder of Kayak.com. "Consumers can see a quick snapshot of where people are going and how much they're paying to get there. This tool can be used to estimate vacation budgets for an upcoming trip or to inspire ideas for a last-minute getaway."

To get the Buzz, input a departure airport or city in the Buzz section of the homepage. Within seconds, Kayak Buzz displays a list of 25 cities organized by popularity with an interactive map that displays all routes color coded by price. Retrieve itinerary details by clicking on the city or on the push pin at the end of each route. An easy-to-use text box appears highlighting itinerary details including price, airline, dates of travel and date the fare was found on Kayak.com. Click on the search button to instantly search real-time fares and availability for the current itinerary or search new dates.

A weekly Kayak Buzz newsletter will be launched in December. Consumers will have the opportunity to register to receive personalized Buzz every week.

"Consumers are frustrated by the bait and switch of the so-called 'Deals Newsletters' and we wanted to create a more personalized, relevant tool for this market," explains Hafner. "Kayak Buzz replaces advertised deals with actual prices found from the consumer's home airport or city. No more clicking on a fare sale only to find irrelevant routes."
