Seasoned Executive Joins Laszlo Systems Management Team

Michael Ouye Will Drive Engineering for Open Source Rich Internet Applications Vendor

SAN MATEO, Calif. (February 22, 2005) - Laszlo Systems, developer of the Laszlo open source platform and provider of rich Internet applications (RIAs) and services, today announced that Michael Ouye has joined the Company as Vice President, Engineering. Ouye, who has more than twenty years of experience managing state-of-the-art development teams and projects, reports to Laszlo's CEO and will be responsible for all product development including the OpenLaszlo platform and the Rich Internet Applications that Laszlo is developing on this state-of-the-art platform.

Most recently, Ouye was vice president, engineering for PSS Systems, Inc., where he was responsible for development, quality assurance, technical documentation, configuration management and patents. There, he delivered two major product releases and his team produced over 40 patent filings. Before that, he was vice president, engineering at Calico Commerce, where he managed a team of more than 75 people and delivered several product releases on schedule. Prior to Calico, he was vice president, engineering at FirstFloor Software, a company that merged with Calico in 1998. Earlier in his career, he worked at Intel and VisiCorp.

Ouye holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from CSU Sacramento and a master's degree in computer science from University of Santa Clara. He is the owner of U.S. patent 5,347,295 for control of a computer through a position-sensed stylus.
