Open Source Software Consultancy Optaros Adds Former Boston Consulting Group CFO to its Board
Boston, Mass. – September 1, 2005
Optaros Inc., an open source software consulting and systems integration firm, today announced the appointment of Larry Begley to its board of directors.
Begley is an accomplished executive with more than 25 years of financial experience in consulting and technology services companies, with a strong record of helping increase growth and take companies public. For seven years, he was chief financial officer and treasurer of The Boston Consulting Group, a leading strategy consulting firm.
“Larry Begley is a strong addition to our board and I look forward to working with him to grow our organization,” said Optaros President and CEO Bob Gett. “Larry´s deep experience in technology and services and his strong financial background bring important expertise and perspective to the Optaros board.”
“This is a wonderful team and a fascinating market,” said Begley. “Open source software is generating substantial interest across the corporate world. Many of my CFO peers have often wondered aloud why software requires so much capital investment. Open source is emerging as a real alternative, one that can help corporations dramatically reduce their technology costs and improve the way they buy software and consulting services.”
In addition to his job at Boston Consulting Group, Begley was EVP and chief financial officer and treasurer of CCBN.com, a leading provider of corporate financial disclosures. He helped it grow from $8 million to $23 million in revenue. CCBN.com is now part of Thomson Financial. He has helped both companies expand internationally. In addition, he played a key role in the 1998 initial public stock offering of professional services and consulting firm i-Cube.
Begley is a director on several corporate boards including MTI Technology Corp., a leading provider of professional services and data storage, storage management and data protection solutions (NASDAQ: MTIC) and Keane (NYSE:KEA), a leading provider of Information Technology and Business Process Services. He also serves on the boards of AWS Convergence Technologies Inc., Geotrust Inc., B*Tween Productions Inc., and Lanthorn Technologies.
