Bethesda (MD) - January 15, 2006 - Prematics™ today announced that James Bradley, one of the nation's most experienced and respected health care executives, has joined the Company as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Prematics has developed and is delivering ScriptToneSM, a new, easy-to-use electronic prescribing solution that promises to transform the $250 billion prescription drug supply chain.
"As an executive, entrepreneur, and industry leader, Jim has been at the forefront of a multi-year effort to make electronic prescribing a reality to improve patient safety and contain health care costs," said Scott Puritz, CEO of Prematics. "His expertise on all issues related to electronic prescribing — including a deep understanding of the business needs of stakeholders such as physicians, pharmacies, insurance companies, health plans, and employers — is invaluable to Prematics as we roll out ScriptToneSM."
"I believe that the time is now for mass adoption of electronic prescription technology," said Bradley. "Broadband is proliferating, the industry has the right backend infrastructure, and health care providers are under increasing pressure to contain costs and improve care. Prematics' seasoned management team, easy-to-use solution and innovative business model have put the Company in an ideal position to take advantage of these trends. I am excited to be part of the team."
Bradley was the founding CEO of RxHub LLC, a healthcare technology company formed by the nation's three largest pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), Caremark Rx, Express Scripts, Inc., and Medco Health. RxHub was established to facilitate electronic prescribing and to remove critical barriers to adoption. During his three year leadership tenure, RxHub developed from a "blank sheet of paper" into a ubiquitous nationwide electronic information exchange connecting physicians, pharmacies, health plans and PBMs. RxHub is an acknowledged industry leader, and recognized as the definitive industry platform for real-time sharing of patient-specific prescription and health benefit information.
Bradley currently is a member of the Board of Directors for the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), the education, certification and accreditation body of the nation's managed care plans. He chaired the Board from 2002-2005.
Prior to launching RxHub, Bradley was a Senior Business Development executive at McKesson, the largest drug distribution and healthcare technology company in the world. Before its acquisition by McKesson, he was the Chairman, CEO and founder of Abaton, a developer of web-based physician connectivity services. Additionally, Bradley has served as Chief Information Officer of UnitedHealth Group, one of the nation's largest healthcare service providers.
Currently Bradley is partnered with Northrop Grumman Corporation and serves as the Program Director for their contract to develop a prototype of a National Health Information Network or NHIN. This contract was awarded by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, a part of the United States Department of Health and Human Services. Over the past two decades, Bradley has worked on related efforts such as serving as the Co-Chair of the Workgroup for EDI or WEDI, the Board of the eHealth Initiative, and the Steering Group for the Markle Foundation's Connecting for Health Project. He also serves on the Board of Trustees for the University of Minnesota Medical Center, and is a member of the Board of Directors of GTESS Corporation in Dallas, which provides technology services to the health insurance industry.
