$24.8M TSA Order Will Place Reveal CT-80 Explosives Detection Systems in U.S. Airports

Reveal Imaging Technologies signs three-year contract with TSA for next-generation EDS systems.

Bedford, MA – October 20, 2005

Reveal Imaging Technologies, Inc., a developer of advanced security inspection systems, announced today that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) placed a $24.8 million order for its CT-80 automated Explosives Detection Systems (EDS) for airport checked baggage as part of a three-year IDIQ (Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity) contract.

The TSA procurement contract will allow rapid deployment of Reveal CT-80 systems, a next-generation reduced-size EDS, in U.S. airports. The Reveal CT-80 is the smallest, lightest and least expensive EDS system in production, enabling the TSA to quickly bring EDS screening capability to airports of all sizes.

The Reveal CT-80, developed under the TSA’s “Phoenix” next-generation EDS development program, revolutionizes the total luggage inspection process with a unique and innovative small system. Reveal’s CT-80 offers airports and the TSA new flexibility in deploying EDS, with a solution small enough to be integrated into an airline check-in desk or kiosk, placed at curbside check-in, or in the lobby, anywhere checked baggage screening is required.

“We are eager to support TSA’s plans to optimize checked baggage screening at airports around the country, ” said Michael Ellenbogen, president and CEO of Reveal Imaging Technologies. “The CT-80 can be rolled into an airport and operating in hours without any major changes to airport infrastructure, a multi-million dollar cost savings for most airports.”

The Reveal Imaging CT-80 EDS uses proven Computed Tomography (CT) technology configured in a new and innovative way to shrink the size, cost and weight of the system. The dual-energy CT scans the entire bag. Using measurements such as density and atomic number, the CT-80 optimizes detection while reducing the number of false alarms.

The CT-80 passed rigorous TSA certification testing in December 2004 and has been successfully field-tested in pilot programs at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, Newark International in Newark, NJ and Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport in Gulfport, MS.

First shipments of the systems will begin this quarter and continue into 2006. The TSA is in the process of identifying the airports that will receive the systems.

About Reveal Imaging Technologies, Inc. Headquartered in Bedford, MA, privately held Reveal Imaging Technologies, Inc., is one of only three companies to successfully pass the TSA’s rigorous certification process for automated explosive detection systems (EDS). Reveal’s solution is significantly more cost and space efficient than current EDS systems. Reveal brings together security imaging experts with over 100 years of cumulative experience designing, developing and deploying EDS for airport and facility security. www.revealimaging.com.
