TSA Orders Additional Systems for Deployment Under CAMBRIA Contract for Carry-On Baggage Explosives and Weapons Detection

TSA orders additional carry-on EDS systems bringing total contract to $5.0 million.

October 10, 2006

Bedford, MA, October 10, 2006 - Reveal Imaging Technologies, Inc., a developer of advanced security inspection systems, announced today that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has expanded the company’s research and development contract under Project Cambria, TSA’s Advanced Weapons and Explosives Detection System development program.

“TSA expanded the Cambria program with Reveal to accelerate the development and deployment of automated explosives detection systems for screening passenger’s carry-on baggage.” said Michael Ellenbogen, president and CEO of Reveal Imaging Technologies. “Reveal is committed to deploying new technologies to improve airport security and we are optimistic that the deployment of smaller CT explosive detection systems will be an important tool in this effort.” As part of the contract, Reveal will develop and deliver additional Explosive Detection Systems (EDS) for carry-on baggage screening, raising the total value of the contract from $3.6 million to $5.0 million. These systems will enhance the carry-on baggage inspection process currently used in U.S. airports.

About Reveal Imaging Technologies, Inc. In 2006, TSA purchased and installed more EDS systems from Reveal than all other EDS suppliers combined. Certified in 2004 by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Reveal's next generation CT-80 is the smallest EDS in the world. The Reveal CT-80 platform, with breakthrough dual-energy Computed Tomography (CT) technology that shrinks the size, cost and weight of the system, is moving forward in meeting the operational needs of airports and other facilities worldwide. Reveal’s product line is expanding to meet the fast paced, dynamic environment of the passenger-screening checkpoint. This same platform accommodates checked baggage, parcels, and air cargo.

The Reveal CT-80 is certified by TSA and is deployed at U.S. and international airports to meet the TSA standards to automatically inspect 100% of checked baggage for explosives.

Headquartered in Bedford, MA, privately held Reveal Imaging Technologies, Inc. is one of only three companies to successfully pass the TSA’s certification process for automated explosive detection systems (EDS).
