King of Prussia , PA March 6, 2006 - For the third year in a row, Eggland's Best Inc. has joined with Upromise and hundreds of other major companies to help families realize the dream of college. When Upromise members make qualified purchases from participating companies, like Eggland's Best, those companies contribute a portion of the purchase price into that member's Upromise account. Upromise makes it easy for families to deposit their savings in tax-advantaged college savings plans, use their savings to help pay off student loans, or share their savings with another Upromise family. Together, Eggland's Best and Upromise's other partners have contributed hundreds of millions of dollars into Upromise member accounts. The only (fresh) egg in the Upromise program since 2004, Eggland's Best will contribute a percentage of each purchase of their Large, Extra Large, Cage Free or Organic eggs made with a Upromise member's registered grocery card to the member's college account.
"We are proud to offer a quality product to our customers, and as a way to thank them for years of loyal patronage, we will continue to be a part of the Upromise program to help families save for college," said Charles T. Lanktree, President and Chief Executive Officer of Eggland's Best, Inc.
"We are thrilled about the commitment that Eggland's Best has made to Upromise, and applaud the company for what it is doing to help make college more affordable for American families," said Tom Anderson, President and CEO of Upromise. Eggland's Best are available at most grocery stores nationally and will support the relationship with point-of-sale signage, website promotion, and print and television advertisements. "We are pleased to contribute to families' Upromise accounts, but we are also very proud of our part in raising awareness of the importance of saving for college - and the power of starting early," said Lanktree.
