Venetica Provides Enterprise Content Integration Support for IBM DB2 Content Manager OnDemand

Enables Integration of Reports with Other Distributed Content Across the Enterprise

January 13, 2004

Charlotte, N.C., January 13, 2004 - Venetica, a leading provider of enterprise content integration (ECI) software, today announced the availability of a Content Bridge to IBM DB2 Content Manager OnDemand, enabling customers to leverage the power of distributed content stored in statements, invoices and other formatted computer output on behalf of enterprise initiatives such as customer service, regulatory compliance and supply chain management.

This announcement builds on Venetica’s heritage of increasing the effectiveness of enterprise applications and business initiatives by harnessing the power of unstructured content, such as documents, images and media assets, stored in disparate systems across the enterprise.

Report management evolved to address specific customer needs, such as capturing statements electronically to enable customer services representatives to see invoices exactly as the customer sees them. Today, organizations require a 360-degree view of content so they can access all documents, scanned images and reports for a particular customer or account. ECI emerged to integrate the various types of content across the enterprise, delivering previously siloed content to users, where they need it, when they need it.

For example, a customer service representative (CSR) at a major insurance company may need access to content to address a customer billing issue. Applications built with Venetica’s ECI platform, VeniceBridge, allow the CSR to easily access all content associated with this customer - including the initial insurance application that may have been scanned into an imaging repository, credit slips stored in another system, correspondence kept in e-mail or document management systems, and monthly statements stored in their IBM DB2 Content Manager OnDemand system. By allowing users to access content from within their environment of choice, VeniceBridge enables faster response time for customer service issues, which translates into lower overall customer service costs and higher customer satisfaction.

“ Companies today are thinking more strategically about how to harness information to gain real insight into their operations,” said Eric Sall, vice president of marketing, Venetica. “Exposing content stored in enterprise report management systems illustrates yet another way to capitalize on the aggregate power of existing enterprise content.”

This announcement is part of an ongoing relationship in support of IBM technology. With VeniceBridge, IBM customers can build enterprise-spanning business applications on the WebSphere platform that provide access to content throughout the organization and leverage business processes defined across multiple business units. These solutions can use a combination of IBM DB2 Content Manager and Lotus Domino.Doc for managing and archiving critical digitized content, Lotus Notes for collaborative information and knowledge management, IBM WebSphere MQ Workflow for enterprise-wide business processes, and other disparate non-IBM systems being used to manage content and processes across the organization. Venetica’s technology has been deployed in IBM customer environments on multiple IBM operating systems including AIX, Linux and zOS.

Venetica provides customers with a single interface to content across disparate environments. Unlike other offerings that create copies of documents and meta-data, Venetica solutions provide a real-time virtual view of content and workflow in place. Venetica’s approach exposes the full, two-way functionality of underlying content management and workflow systems, respects the security of those systems and adds cross-system services such as federated search. Venetica provides tools to easily develop enterprise applications that connect to any content system, and out-of-the-box bridges to leading systems such as those from FileNet, Documentum, IBM, Lotus, Microsoft and Open Text.

About Venetica Venetica is the leading provider of enterprise content integration software. The company’s flagship product, VeniceBridge®, dramatically reduces the cost and complexity associated with creating content-rich applications such as portals, collaborative applications, CRM and others. At the heart of VeniceBridge is a consistent, bi-directional interface that enables applications to quickly integrate with multiple, disparate content repositories and business processes. VeniceBridge delivers further competitive advantage to today’s real-time enterprise by providing relevant views of content and processes that are reusable across enterprise applications. Venetica partners with leading software vendors and system integrators in North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region to deliver solutions around the world.
