Press for QuickPlay Media

QuickPlay Media, Inc., the leading provider of managed solutions for the distribution of premium video to IP-connected devices, today announced it has been named a finalist in the 2011 Mobile Entertainment Awards’ “Best Video Service Provider” category. The Mobile Entertainment Awards are awarded annually to recognize success and innovation in the mobile content space.

Toronto’s QuickPlay Media says its goal is to stream video to any IP-connected device on behalf of any media network or wireless carrier.  To accomplish this, the Canadian startup founded almost eight years ago has raised about $42 million in venture capital, and established several offices in the United States and London for its 150 employees. More importantly, though, QuickPlay also acquired the data and network operations center that Qualcomm (NASDAQ: QCOM) built for in a San Diego office park for its independently operated Flo TV subsidiary.

QuickPlay Media, Inc., the leading provider of managed solutions for the distribution of premium video to IP-connected devices, today announced it has been named to Deloitte’s North America Technology Fast 500 and Canada Technology Fast 50 lists. The awards recognize the fastest-growing companies in North America and Canada, respectively. Both awards are based on a company’s revenue growth over the past five years. QuickPlay’s revenues grew 360 percent from July 1, 2005 to June 30, 2010. This is the company’s second year being named to the Canada Technology Fast 50 list.

Qualcomm Inc. (Nasdaq: QCOM)'s FLO TV Inc. loss was QuickPlay Media Inc. 's gain. The mobile video vendor took over FLO TV's San Diego facilities in July, and is now working to prove what Qualcomm couldn't -- that there’s a market for live TV on the handheld device.
