As an XIR, Scott Griffith leverages his operational experience and domain expertise to support marketplace-driven business models and businesses focused on the sharing economy. Scott is chairman of the board of VISANOW, a General Catalyst portfolio company.
Prior to joining General Catalyst, Scott served as chairman and CEO of Zipcar, the world's leading car sharing network. During his ten-year tenure, he transformed Zipcar from a small business into a profitable public company, growing it from $2 million to nearly $300 million in revenues through organic growth and acquisitions before taking it public in 2011. In 2011, he engineered Zipcar’s Initial Public Offering (IPO), and in 2013 led the strategic sale of Zipcar to Avis Budget Group for approximately $500 million.
Prior to Zipcar, Scott held senior level positions at the Boeing Company (NYSE: BA), Information America and the Parthenon Group.
He serves on the boards of Alliance for Business Leadership and VISANOW. He also serves as leadership council chairman for the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center.
Scott earned his Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
