We are excited to announce that Phil Libin has joined General Catalyst as a Managing Director in our Palo Alto office. Phil spent the last two decades building companies, most recently as the co-founder and CEO of Evernote. In his next chapter with us, he will focus on helping other entrepreneurs build innovative companies.

We have known Phil since his days in Boston as the founder and CEO of CoreStreet. We love the fact that he has built companies on both coasts as we are actively helping start-ups in Silicon Valley as well as the Boston-NYC corridor. As we engaged with Phil regarding the next phase of his career, it became clear that he would be a remarkable partner to entrepreneurs, helping them find market fit for their products in the earliest stages. He has built a terrific reputation as a mentor and adviser to emerging entrepreneurs globally. He also shares our love for bringing strong teams together in the idea stage, much as General Catalyst has done with Kayak, Demandware, Naturebox, Vitrue, Highfive and others.

Phil’s addition to the General Catalyst team is a tremendous milestone for our Silicon Valley presence. He brings enormous experience in the end-user applications arena, much like the way Steve Herrod, former CTO of VMware, brought domain expertise in enterprise infrastructure. We think that many industries are poised to go through a period of dramatic shift towards better design and user experience; a worldwide “application rewrite” of unprecedented scale and opportunity. Phil’s experience having led a product that has been used by more than 150 million people globally will enhance our ability to support our entrepreneurs building such applications.

Please join us in welcoming Phil to the General Catalyst family.
