We are excited to announce that we’ve promoted Niko Bonatsos to Venture Partner at General Catalyst. In this role, Niko will focus on working with early stage entrepreneurs building new consumer products and services.

Niko joined General Catalyst as a principal in 2011, shortly after we opened our Silicon Valley office, and has played a key role in helping establish our West Coast presence.

Our team recognized early on that Niko has a special gift for identifying consumer products and services with potential to be successful in their very early days, despite the ambiguity and, often, controversy that surrounds them. In fact, he has helped source many of our promising consumer investments in the early days of these businesses, including ClassDojo, Chatous/Kiwi and Snapchat. We look forward to backing many more millennial founders with Niko’s help and guidance.

At General Catalyst, we take the responsibility of leading investments very seriously and have been mentoring Niko to grow into this responsibility over the last few years. He has been serving as a board director or board observer for various portfolio companies, including Chatous/Kiwi, Livongo Health, FlightCar and others. We have been thoroughly impressed by his tireless drive to help the entrepreneurs our firm has invested in and continues to support. He deeply cares about entrepreneurs and is very thoughtful in the way he engages with them, discussing product and market dynamics and opportunities in the consumer space.

In addition to upholding the core values of the firm, Niko brings an original perspective that helps us grow as a firm and deepen our ability to invest in Silicon Valley.

Congratulations, Niko!
