Hot Potato was acquired by Facebook in August 2010.
Hot Potato is a seed stage consumer communications platform that was founded by Justin Schaffer, a long-time senior executive and founding member of mlb.com, the most successful subscription-based video service on the web. The platform allows consumers to interact with each other around live events via any media type (SMS, Facebook, pictures, video, Twitter, etc.) via a single application. It creates a seamless experience that allows a group to discuss and share the event of the moment (game, political speech, television program, etc.) and will potentially allow others to view and consume the content created.
