Today, we are pleased to announce the latest addition to General Catalyst’s XIR program, Jonathan Klein, co-founder of Getty Images, the global market leader in visual communications worldwide. Jonathan led Getty Images as CEO for more than twenty years and currently serves as chairman.

The XIR program is an important component of General Catalyst’s growth investment strategy, supporting founders building transformative businesses, and enabling tech companies at the threshold of hyper-growth to realize their full potential. XIRs are proven founders and CEOs — operators with deep domain expertise — who have built and grown companies with hundreds of millions to more than a billion dollars in annual revenue.

XIRs leverage their operational experience and deep domain expertise in key technology sectors, to take active board roles and assist management teams of founder-driven businesses to help drive rapid growth.

Jonathan is an experienced founder and CEO who harnessed the power of the web and mobile to transform the market for photography and video into a thriving, modern industry to meet the needs of visual communicators globally. He is an active advisor and investor from seed to expansion stage businesses both domestic and abroad. He also has helped lead the development and growth of well-known, market-transforming platforms, with leadership roles on a number of boards, including Etsy (NASDAQ: ETSY) and SquareSpace.

As an XIR with General Catalyst, Jonathan brings his broad experience to work with founders and management teams in a broad range of industries, from consumer e-commerce companies to enterprise platforms that are creating and re-inventing entire markets.

Welcome, Jonathan!
