Ajoy Prabakar

In my role, I lead the Finance function for General Catalyst, India. My responsibilities include managing the India Advisor entity’s finance and taxation, overseeing all tax matters for GC vehicles investing into the country, and advising on transaction tax structuring and portfolio restructurings, I also manage financial due diligence for growth-stage companies, alongside handling end-to-end fund finance, valuations, and LP reporting for legacy Venture Highway funds.

Before joining GC, I led the finance function for a couple of private equity funds, including Venture Highway. I started my career in the EY Assurance team and worked at Citibank for about five years before transitioning into the private equity industry.

I am a Chartered Accountant and earned my executive MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur.

Outside of work, I love spending time playing with my young daughter. On Sundays, you can reliably find me on the cricket ground, happily braving the scorching Chennai heat.
