Alex Allaire

I serve as the Analyst and Finance & Energy Policy Lead at the General Catalyst Institute (GCI) where I work to shape policy frameworks that support innovation across financial technology, digital assets, and energy infrastructure. This includes engaging with policymakers, regulators, and portfolio companies on the legislative and regulatory developments critical to scaling transformative technologies in the United States and abroad.

Prior to my current role, I served as a FinTech & Blockchain Policy Fellow in the U.S. House of Representatives under Majority Whip Tom Emmer, where I worked directly on emerging technology policy at the federal level. My time on the Hill provided firsthand exposure to the legislative process shaping crypto markets, decentralized finance, and financial innovation, collaborating with a broad set of stakeholders across Congress, federal agencies, and the private sector.

Earlier in my career, I served as an Industry Affairs Associate at the Blockchain Association, advancing the interests of the blockchain ecosystem and contributing to coalition-building around responsible digital asset regulation. I also co-founded the American Blockchain Initiative, helping to educate policymakers on blockchain technology and its policy implications during the industry's formative years in Washington.

I received my BA in Political Science with a concentration in American Government and reside in Washington, DC. When I'm not tracking legislation or policy developments, you can find me hiking, golfing, or spending time by the water.
