Biz Peabody

I am an Operating Partner at General Catalyst for the Global Resilience portfolio. I partner with founders building in defense, industrial, energy and beyond — helping them navigate the operational and strategic challenges that are unique to mission-driven companies at scale.

Prior to General Catalyst, I spent six years at Shield AI, where I helped grow the company from a $200 million Series B startup to a $12.7 billion defense technology leader. I served as Chief of Staff and led Investor Relations while building business models, processes, and entire functions from scratch — going wherever the company needed me most. Before that, I was a contract negotiator for Raytheon's multi-billion-dollar radar portfolio, which gave me early fluency in defense acquisition from the prime contractor lens.

At GC, I work alongside portfolio founders on the challenging operational problems that come with scaling a resilient company, including navigating government acquisition, designing lasting business models, scaling manufacturing processes, preparing for institutional capital, communicating the mission, and building the teams and functions that make growth sustainable.

I grew up in a family that believes deeply in service, and the many forms it can take. I've found my life's passion in building and enabling the companies at the center of our national security and resilience. There is no mission I'd rather be close to.

I'm a Certified Federal Contracts Manager. I hold a BA in International Relations from USC, an MBA from Harvard Business School, and an MPP from Harvard Kennedy School.
