Kate Bender

At General Catalyst, I’m part of GC’s Creation team, which focuses on incubations, transformations, and venture buyouts. I love working with founders and management teams to grow their companies, whether it’s through adopting new technology or acquiring new partners. Specifically, I invest in forward-thinking founders and owners of services companies who see a generational opportunity to transform their industry with frontier automation and intelligence capabilities.

Before joining GC, I was an investor at the private equity firm Altamont Capital Partners, where I invested in a variety of spaces—ranging from launching a new insurance carrier to buying an ice cream company. Prior to Altamont, I worked as a consultant at BCG.

I graduated from Stanford University with a BA in History and a Minor in Economics. I wrote my honors thesis on funding models in public education and earned an MA in Education from Stanford. I also received my MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
