Maryam Mujica

I currently serve as the President of the General Catalyst Institute (GCI), where I lead a global team working at the intersection of venture capital and government to strengthen national resilience through transformative technologies.

Over the last two decades, my career has spanned the worlds of law, government, and the technology sector. I began practicing law before entering public service, where I focused on some of the United States' most complex geopolitical challenges. While serving at the U.S. Department of State and later on The White House National Security Council, I witnessed firsthand during the Arab Spring how technology was reshaping societies and geopolitics across the Middle East in real time.

That experience inspired my transition to the private sector, where I have helped some of the world's leading technology companies navigate challenging and ever-evolving policy and regulatory environments. I led all Executive Branch engagement for Twitter before leading Emerging Markets for Google's International Government Affairs team. I later built Shopify's global government affairs function and subsequently led public affairs across the Americas for Booking Holdings and its portfolio of brands, including Booking.com, Kayak, Priceline, and Agoda.

I earned my bachelor's degree from Trinity College, J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law, and a Master's Certificate in Public Administration from the University of Virginia. I am licensed to practice law in California, speak Spanish, and am conversant in French and Farsi. I live in Washington, D.C., with my husband and daughter.
