Michael Jasinski’s introduction to entrepreneurship was running a landscaping business as a teenager. His mantra “no job too big or too small, just give me a call” was one Michael has carried with him throughout his career. After an introduction to accounting in high school, he went on to study it in college and earned a masters in professional accountancy. Continuing his passion for business, he joined PwC and served private equity and venture capital firms for a number of years.
One of his favorite clients was General Catalyst, quickly becoming interested in the firm’s portfolio companies and mission to influence the world through investing. He subsequently joined the firm, not to fill an open position, but to bring taxation expertise inside the organization.
At General Catalyst, Michael focuses on the communication and relationship-building that supports successful decision-making. Tax regulations are complex and dynamic; therefore analysis and effective communication of tax matters is critical to providing accurate guidance for our founders, limited partners and the firm. Legislative changes and reporting requirements are ever-increasing on a global stage requiring agility and adaptability, and the GC team aims to be as innovative as our portfolio companies to meet those challenges, leveraging technology to process and analyze data, maximizing its value, driving efficiencies, and enhancing the overall strategic tax function.
To stay in shape for the challenges at work, Michael stays active outdoors in all seasons, from surfing and cycling in summer to snowboarding in winter. To serve his community, Michael is also an active participant in the Pan-Mass Challenge.
